Taking a Stand

Some of you may know this, while others of you may not know, but I have an older brother who has tourette syndrome. Now for those of you who do not know what this is let me explain a little. He was born with it and he makes noises, sometimes loud and high pitched, but they are not usually the most noticeable thing. The other action that occurs with this is that he shakes, this occurs more often. This movement is almost a... " juke." Now, being his sister I have always know Kyle this way and have always loved him for it just the way he is. The problem sometimes has been that others do not always consider it to be as normal, so they stare and sometimes give him rude looks. Kyle is a rather chill dude, so he is never offended. Well just recently a situation occurred...

He and his sweet girlfriend decided to go see a movie at the Warren Theatre in Wichita. A problem arose when someone decided that he was a distraction and Kyle was soon asked to leave. Now, Kyle is a lover not a fighter, so of course he left and avoided confrontation. Now, I agree that is always the best decision because you never know what people are capable of and it would have been scary if it would have resolved in physical violence, but praise the good Lord all is well. The neat thing about this whole outcome is that the Wichita news interviewed Kyle and let the people of his local community know about this situation. I think it was great and he did a great job. Now, there is a comment wall taking place online about the whole occurrence and what frustrates me is that people are treating him as though he is so disabled that he should not consider to partake in such events within society. I do not agree that Kyle has a disability, I look at as a characteristic to Kyle that makes him that much more unique in his own skin. We all have weird quarks about us and Tourette's is Kyles. the Lord has blessed him to be an example to others, maybe with the situation. I think people need to understand what the word disability really means, not just make a word to fit your personal needs. Overall I am so proud of my brother and greatly admire the patient and strength he had to have over the years with this corky characteristic that just makes him that much more his own person, created divinely by our Lord and Savior.

Oh Where, Oh where does the time go?

Life has been so crazy. For those of you who read this blog regularly I am so sorry that I have failed in my writing. This past month for the Strom's has been insanely busy! At work I had been preparing diligently for CIY! Which I must say was GREAT! We took ten girls and it was a blast. Now, it is always interesting when you expect something to turn out one way, and then whelp, news flash the Lord is in control. I am so glad he is in control! Looking back over the week at Camp I would say it was a great week of growth and change amongst some of the great students of our youth! It was rather difficult to catch up on my sleep upon my return, because the Braun's become one!

As soon as I return home from camp I was on the road again to attend Connor and Jac's wedding. It was so beautiful. The simplicity of the whole process was nice and it was so fun to arrange flowers. I also got to spend some good time with my gal pal Alina. She is so wise and so smart! I just love her! I was also very excited to see my friend Jamie. It was a relaxing time, full of great memories and lots of laughter. As you can read life has been extremely busy and I have not had much time with my dear husband.

Jordan worked for Cool enterprises for the summer, it's a lawn mowing/ landscaping business. In this hot, humid, sticky Kansas weather it's not the greatest job to have in the summer time. I am so proud of him though, last week was his final full week. I know he hated everyday, but I am so proud of him for sticking it out. We are now preparing for the week ahead of us, as we start our final year of school and working hard to figure out where God will take us next. I am so excited to see where and how we will be used!

Homemade granola bars, good friends, family and basketball all in one weekend!

As you can tell from the title of this blog, it has been a very busy weekend for us Strom's. We have had quite the weekend. On Friday I attempted to make homemade granola bars, they were very scruptmous. If you do not believe me just ask Justin Glenn. I had made them one other time with my grandmother, but this time I was flying solo. I thought that it was a good time to try it out because Jordan played in the sunflower state games this past weekend. It was a ton of fun, they played four games and got two wins and two loses, I would say it was a rather successful day of ballin (that was my attempt at some baller like chit chat) ( hahhaha). I was also able to spend some time with my family, it was awesome. The craziest/ funniest accident happened while were out shopping at a strip mall. We were a few stores down when all of a sudden we heard loud screeching tires, dogs whimpering and soon the lovely aroma of burnt tires. I kid you not, this old, lady was parked right out in front of the hallmark store and when she was trying to back up, she hit the gas pedal instead and drove right through the glass of the hallmark store. It was out of control. I felt bad for the old gal, she was not injured but, it was really funny. I was able to sneak a picture which I will hopefully post soon! It was just a really funny freak accident. We also had a great time seeing good friends this weekend which included, the Kultz's both couples that is, Justin Glenn and we were even able to make a few new friends. It went by so fast, but we would not change one moment of the whole experience.

Today, we are just taking the time to relax because we have a rather busy week coming up. I have to work more this week because I am filling in for the secretaries in the office, pray for me. Jordan is a little sore form yesterday, but he has a full week ahead of him, so pray that the old man would heal quickly. Next weekend is the big weekend, weather permitting that we are going to paint our dinning room table as well as a lamp and a few other small projects that I thought were necessary of course. I am also so pumped to start doing a bible study with a few friends. I have been craving something like this to appear in my life, and whelp God is once again faithful. As you can see, married life is busy, wait that is just life!

Forever Faithful

You know it never ceases to amaze me how truly wonderful God is. Lately, I have been having the strangest dreams, but the weirdest of them all happened last night. I had this crazy dream that I was hanging out with my dear friend Robyn and we had been with her family all day and it was awesome. At the end of the day out of the blue she says to me, my aunt Ruth and uncle Chuck and I are very concerned about you and how you are living your life. Now, first off she does not have an uncle Chuck or Ruth, that I know of, so this dream is that much more humorous. Robyn then proceeded to say, "we all do not feel that you are giving your life fully to the Lord and we do not think you are a Christian". Now, obviously this dream has some major flaws in it but, it did make me think. Do people see something different in me? I just recently have been reading through the different miracles that Jesus performs. The first of these that I read comes from Matthew 8:2-4. Now, I am sure that all of us here have heard this story about the man with leprosy, but something really struck me in the passage. When the man with leprosy asks Jesus to make him clean, by this he is saying he wants to be healed. Jesus response with these words.... " I am willing." When I first read this I got a little teary- eyed because of the immense amount of grace that I could feel coming from those three words. How often do we all mess up? I know I do everyday, in my words, actions, thoughts and much more, but if we are willing to meet Jesus at the cross he is there, " willing" and ready to heal. Now, this is not rocket science I know, we all have heard this, but sometimes I think we all need a good swift kick in the rear. In my own life I think God was saying, I am enough and I am willing, are you willing Becca? I think this is something I needed to hear. I go to Christian College, I work at a church and all my friends I surround myself with, whelp shocker here, they are also all Christians. Sometimes the going gets tough, but when we dig deep we learn the good and bad and it makes us wiser, stronger and better equip for the Lord's Kingdom, Amen! I pray that for anyone who reads, that you will think through this a little bit and maybe God is trying to say the same to you or not, but whatever it may be, pray. Pray that God will continue to work in your life and that you may grow, when times are rough or when the times are blessed. Seek him out and he will not mislead you. This is the choice that we all have, now it's your turn to decide because he had already said it. Are you willing?

Ps.... I found this picture of Jordan on his computer that he had taken and it really made me giggle... So I thought I would be so kind and share with all of you!

This is the first day of the rest of our lives

Greetings to all,

Today is our first day of official blogging. I am very excited and I cannot wait to see how this blogging experience turns out. I want to give everyone a little background as to why I am doing this for us newly weds. I am taking composition two this summer, I know I am a senior in college and I have yet to take it. I wanted to blog because I felt challenged in class by the way I write or should I say the way I do not write. I just have always disliked literature classes so, I have always done the bare minimum to get by. I want this to be a way that I can grow in my writing skills and a great way for family and friends to keep up with our busy lives.

Our first big experience in the apartment was yesterday morning around 9 am. I was being a good wife and cleaning our apartment before heading into work for the day when I discovered that there was a leak under our kitchen sink. It was rather interesting, we are very blessed because there was a bucket right where it was leaking so I did not have a huge mess to clean up, but as you can imagine it was not fun and a little smelly. I am hoping that someone will come today to fix the problem. I am just so thankful that I was able to find it in time! The Lord is so good and faithful.

I am very excited because the weekend is quickly approaching and Jordan and I have a few house projects that we would like to complete somewhat soon so that we can have everything ready. We are going to paint our dinning room table so that it looks better and well it just needs some TLC. We are also going to paint a few lamps and small things like that. I am so excited for our place to become complete. It is looking so fabulous and I am just so blessed to be able to call it home. My mom came down this past weekend and she was a huge help in assisting us on a few things that I was not sure about. We got throw pillows and curtains it really just made everything so complete. I am just so thankful for her and her artistic eye. She is simply wonderful. I hope to post a few pictures of the new place, so keep on the look out for some pictures.

Well, there it is the very first post, it's not the most exciting but I am sure that there will be more to come. May God bless you and comfort you as you go through your days!
